Is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153E\u00e2\u20ac\u009d better than \u00e2\u20ac\u0153G\u00e2\u20ac\u009d?<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve looked it up, and am writing the answers here for your referencing pleasure.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Obsolete. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153CSD\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153HSCSD\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. These have no symbol to show a data connection as the data was sent in-band over (effectively) a voice channel. Think of these as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153dial up Internet\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of the mobile world. Data rates from 9.6 kbit\/s to 43.2 kbit\/s, similar to analogue modems on landlines.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153G\u00e2\u20ac\u009d short for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/General_Packet_Radio_Service\">GPRS<\/a>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d short for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153General Packet Radio Service\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, considered \u00e2\u20ac\u01532.5G\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got a horrible feeling that the liars in the marketing departments of phone companies will be writing \u00e2\u20ac\u01534G\u00e2\u20ac\u009d when they should be writing \u00e2\u20ac\u0153LTE\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. There are no \u00e2\u20ac\u01534G\u00e2\u20ac\u009d networks in the UK yet, the spectrum hasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even been auctioned. O2 are testing in Slough.<\/p>\n<p>Phew. Now you know.
